2pm Yoga

This class is taught by:

Robin Hashway

Robin began practicing yoga and fell, quick and hard, in love with the physical practice. Always an athlete, yoga provided not only strength training, but a delicious sense of full body ease, not something she usually associated with "working out." And when the opportunity arose to take a teacher training, she jumped in. Robin had no intention of teaching, only wanting to learn more about the physical benefits of asana, and to begin to dive into the history and philosophy of a practice that was quickly transforming not only her body, but her sense of calm and wellbeing. Part of the training requirement was practice teaching, so Robin forced her family to meet every week for an hour so she could pass along the sequences and postures she was learning. By the end of her training, Robin was itching to start passing on everything she could to anyone who would listen, and lo and behold, applied to teach.
Robin trained in Hatha and Vinyasa Yoga right here at Providence Power Yoga, earning her 200 hour RYT in February of 2016, and began teaching in April of the same year. She approaches the asana practice as a way to explore the body and mind with curiosity and joy. By creating strong, sometimes unusual sequences based on the foundational postures, students build strength and security. Steady vinyasa flow, supplemented with graceful organic movements (and just a little fun) allows the student to find their own freedom of expression on the mat.

Caroline Pope Peavy

TEACHER
E-RYT-200, RYT-500
“Yoga is the practice of tolerating the consequences of being yourself.”

Just like she was meant to birth her two children, Caroline was born to practice and teach yoga. Her journey on the mat began in 2000 with Bikram Yoga when looking to get into shape for her wedding in 2001. Caroline’s sister suggested a Vinyasa class and she was hooked. She no longer felt as stressed when living her life of wife, mother, and professional. Caroline’s emotions began to balance themselves out with every practice. She now believes that self study on and off the mat is the root to clarity of body, mind, and spirit. Caroline was certified to teach Vinyasa in 2010 by Eyes Of The World Studio with Tom Gillette and Shannah Green. She recently completed an advanced 500 hour training with Theresa Murphy in traditional Hatha Yoga. This training was a cross-pollination of styles, penetrating study of asana, anatomy, meditation, therapeutics, hands on assisting, sequencing, wisdom teachings, subtle anatomy and so much more. Her classes include many different styles of yoga and wisdom teachings. Caroline weaves every class differently so that the student has a better sense of their body and feels the transformative experience that is yoga.

Noelle Curren

Noelle is a 200-hour Yoga Alliance certified teacher. She came to her practice at 17, teaching herself postures and sequences from a yoga book, quickly developing a very strong, committed home practice. She fell in love with the intensity of holding the physical postures, the creativity of creating her own sequences and the freedom to explore; which eventually led her to teaching. Noelle attended the University of Rhode Island where she studied Kinesiology with a focus in exercise science. In 2013 she completed her Level 1 YogaFit certification and taught yoga at the Anna Fascitelli Fitness and Wellness Center at the University of Rhode Island. She completed her teacher training at Raffa Yoga in December 2015. Noelle brings her playful spirit, humor, and love for yoga to her classes; as well as her strong background in anatomy and understanding of the body in motion. Noelle teaches from an authentic place with the intention of presenting yoga in a way that is accessible for everyone. Classes are mindfully taught to draw attention to alignment and towards cultivating strength. Noelle teaches creative sequences to the backdrop of carefully crafted playlists that compliment the progression of the class and enhance the overall experience.
